NFC Championship day...

Welp, todays the day Cindee and I have been waiting for all week. Not only is it the day that the Arizona Cardinals hopefully make franchise history but Im hoping to see the Eagles take a major hurtin (yea I dont like them). I love this picture of Cindee and neice Natalie (Nat), Cindee in her Cardinals jersey, and Nat in her Cardinals red routing Cardinals #1...

Cindee and I went to the store this morning to get some stuff for this little shindig we are throwing, and I made a rookie comment when she grabbed some valentines candy "Remember what the doctor said hun" I caught a glare that damn near left me bald, I should have known better. I guess thats a good sign of typical progress within a pregnancy, the raging hormone river my buddy said (he's going through the same thing right now).

We're looking forward to our party today, but we're missing our friends from Arizona something fierce. I almost feel like they should be here for this occassion (or vice versa for that matter). Oh well Im sure we'll be text messaging back and forth from kickoff to victory. Go Cardinals!

First visit to the doc..

Well, Cindee and I went to the doctor today to find out what the deal is with our little wonder. Turns out the rascal is ALMOST a centimeter long. You all know me, Im a tad on the aggressive side so when the midwife (or who I THOUGHT was the midwife) comes in she starts talking to Cindee and totally ignores me, Im thinking to myself "uhhh hello lady, the papa is right here you havent even introduced yourself wtf!". So in my aggressive manner I tell her as she's walking out the door "Mind if we get something out of the way, Im Art Tarsha, the father". She kind of looks back at me and is like Ohhh, Hi Im "so and so" the nurses assistant. Of course I felt like an ass.

Anyhow the midwife finally comes in, and immediately introduces herself "Im pretty sure the nurses assistant told her, hey Cindee's husbands a jerk, make sure you introduce yourself before he bites your head off". I was feeling pretty humble at that point so the introduction was cool =), She administered the ultrasound, and talked to us about the process. We asked her how she felt about epidural (sp?) she told us the pregnancy is yours, unless you are sitting on that babies head you can have one whenever you want. That was a relief to us because of a bad experience my sister Carli had with a hippy midwife in the past. The midwife had a very dry approach to her jokes which of course I can dig, I laughed at pretty much everything she said. She seems very helpful and we're happy she's the one overseeing this pregnancy.

So without further adeu heres the "her/him". Pay attention the left hand side when she moves the camera in you can see the heart beat. Our next ultrasound will hopefully be slightly more than a blob =)

How we found out

Well well we found out on December 24th 2008 at approximately 6:15am that we were going to have a baby.

Cindee had been sick for a few days with a wicked flu, and I had been sleeping on the couch to avoid the evil. She walked in xmas-eve morning and sat on the couch staring at me with these big blue eyes which had me a bit concerned. I asked what was wrong (no response) I asked again (no response), she simply handed me the pregnancy test applicator and asked "Do those look like double lines to you?". I was still groggy from sleep but I knew right away what that meant. I asked Cindee if the test was one of those cheap dollar store tests which she confirmed. I then told her to wake me up when she tests with a legitimate test (of course she needed to go spend 14$ on a test to convince me, I just wanted to be sure).

So there you have it, thats how we found out. We told her family that night when everyone was together. I waited to tell my family until Friday the 26th because I wanted to see their faces when I announced the news. They were extatic as well (as suspected).

We spent the last week in Arizona with family and friends, its been a good week though it was good to be home "in front of my plasma" to watch the 'University of Utah Utes' win the Sugar Bowl for a 13-0 season, as well as the Arizona Cardinals win a wildcard spot in the playoffs by defeating the Atlanta Falcons (Cindee and I are hardcore football fans)..

More to come!
